  1. It would be really sad if KK blamed this on anything else but the real causes (3rd green, low droprate of mythics in general and people running out of money because of the 5 million events per month).

  2. A bit in the expensive side this time: 834 battles, 50 drops, 100 shards (5 SP boosters) for a total of 9654 kobans. I also obtained 36 tickets, 56 MPx1 orbs and ¿1680 gems? The fact that she has so many shards left in the second day I atribute to this causes: - most people has depleted their koban reserves after so many mythics (incluiding revivals) and events - there are a lot less wealthy people (both P2W and F2P) that abandoned the game in the three waves of the last months coinciding with the radical changes in the game (my own club had a third of players not playing anymore, all of them high level and many with plenty of kobans from winning many leagues) - she is not from a strong colour, and with each new mythic girl in people's harems there are diminishing returns in PVP apart of the cost in upgrading, awakening and leveling them. - and perhaps most important, this time the design is subpar compared with the rest of the mythics so it is not so appealing for people. P.S. Please one moderator could send a warn to a troll by the name of DvDivxxx that is derailing the thread with his league diggressions and repeated complaints against whales and older accounts. (Sorry, I couldn't help putting you on the receiving end. Just a friendly joke you are some times too vehement about those issues)

  3. To visualize what lepidocter said: Here is the first Season Girl and there the second (in the free path): And if you remember it correctly, the Avatar on tier13 hadn't the x100 shards sign.

  4. I do think you might be on to something there. I suspect that the proportion of player who are actually competiting is D3 is pretty small compared to the player base. We leaguie weagies likely exaggerate the importance of PvP due to our own biases towards it. Maybe it's just that Titainia is a giant uggo? 😛 Personally, in that survey, I went through and voted for every girl with a double attribute. Maybe I don't 'get' this game lol.

  5. You didn't get the girl, you got the AVATAR of that girl. Continue progress in the season. The actual girl is later (see an icon with a purple background) The award should be more clear about, anyway, a lot od new players get confused about.

  6. You did kind of also move the post to QA, with the reasoning being that "it's not a valid suggestion". Usage of mod powers to enforce that statement is a more powerful signal than just an opinion about what is acceptable feedback, and I could maybe retort to that focusing on the wrong detail that it seems you're here dodging the issue of it being far from obvious that OP's post shouldn't be accepted as feedback. It's fine and all to have moderation, but in this case it feels a bit arbitrary instead of based on a set of rules. I don't think anybody's criticized you being helpful telling about the script.

  7. Update: I was mining for black gems and suddenly Druiada Titania joins my harem! I'm sure she was sneaking up on me as I slowly built my black gem stockpile (i.e. no way was it a 100 shard drop). Very odd to get a Mythic when not actively going for her. She may be a lesser mythic, but I'm not kicking her out of bed when she jumps me like this. 🤣

  8. I spotted this yesterday but didn't want to post it up as I didn't really want anyone in my CC bracket (Pachinko Monday!) seeing this and actually competing with me. 178 orbs later, no Levitya. Ended up having to spend 15 3x and 2 6x to get Levitya and Fangirl Sylvia (I wouldn't have bothered with FS if she hadn't dropped first). I also took #1 in the CC (yumyumyumyumyum - gems, GXP and a booster I'll save for some later date). Anyway - latest figures for single MP: Ginseng - 52 - 16.99% Chlorella - 66 - 21.57% Jujubes - 3 - 0.98% Cordycep - 27 - 8.82% GXP - 157 - 51.31% Girl - 1 - 0.33% Taking us to an overall result of: Ginseng - 188 - 17.39% Chlorella - 250 - 23.13% Jujubes - 25 - 2.31% Cordycep - 86 - 8.03% GXP - 536 - 49.58% Girl - 6 - 0.56%

  10. Sometimes players intentionally lower their power for a short period of time, to let their clubmates get easy wins (Of course, other players might have the same opportunity, but they might already have spent their fights, or not be playing during this snapshot, or just not notice it).

  11. I would also like to add that the artwork in this Mythic has mistakes. The artist does not seem bad but, needs more practice. I think KK should let the artists that need to practice skills work on the 1-stars and only have the best work on the 5-stars with how expensive they are. Kind of like food... You go to MacDonald's and something is cold, not quite right you shrug your shoulders and are not that upset... The same thing happens at a really nice and pricey restaurant, it is different story.

  12. There could be another reason: We had 17 Seasons so far and we are now in the 18th. But the March PoA was the 24th. If they add the girls in chronological order we have to wait some months more to reach the first season girl... There was a chance for a top4 but in the last minutes two players go from nearly 0 points to aboce 250.000. Didn't want to spend more Orbs so I ended at 5th place.

  13. I think it's interesting people are focused on the 3rd green while, yes there's only 1 purple, I checked there's 2 of every other colour except blue (and now green) so it had to be some colour I also think it's interesting people are banking on revivals. I think I've seen revival shards available 3-4 times total of ALL revivals that have taken place so far. I'm not checking less (or more) than normal mythic days and I'm not online less either. Could just be bad luck timing but from my POV revivals are harder to get than normal mythic girls. This surprises me because I'd think the people who have them would counter out the 1 day less, but not from my experience of trying to get the girls so far. Maybe there's a revival farming strategy I'm totally ignorant of. Anyway, timing worked out for me and I took advantage and got Druidzilda: with some luck and boosters spent only around 8K koban which is my best (least) yet. It's not 3k spending but I have no patience to save 300 combat and greatly admire those that do Ironically I wondered briefly why I had so few MP orbs gained 😜 Game on. PS: After purple, I have the second most green gems, so not only do I disagree with previous poster about difficulty farming, it heavily influenced my decision to go for this mythic.

  14. Try this. Figure out you want to purchase a car. Magically, your town become full of car advertisements. Wanna buy home? Real Estate panels everywhere. Selective attention. Our mind skip what doesn't seem 'emotionally relevant' at the moment.. The car alerts were around you the whole time, but you missed them. Maybe you were more focused on communicating the problem, and your selective attention unlocked once you did. This is a possible reply to your last question. But it was way better to edit the first message using the proper button, a mod will now come to *gently* remind you of the *FORBIDDEN DEMONIC DOUBLE POSTING*.

  15. This really hasn't been my experience, but that could just be the difference in our power level (which, as we've discussed previously, isn't that big but it is there) leading to different optimal strategies. Before awakenings released I was fighting for top-30 and wasn't quite getting it consistently, whereas now I'm taking top-15 very consistently, to the extent that I can just x15 fight if I want to save some time because I'm not in any real threat of losing it. I'm not seeing any sign of backsliding or increased difficulty, and if anything I'm only closing ground faster thanks to all the PXP being doled out in 2022, as I am rapidly gaining levels and closing that gap. I fall just short of being able to profitably make attempts on top-4, so I'm probably just not feeling the handful of heavyweights that are locking a player like you out, while still enjoying easy wins against all the complacent players giving me a nice score to place top-15. So for me, quite the opposite, leagues are easier than they've ever been and the power gap is still shrinking with no signs of reversing course.

  16. It would still be better for the probably still majority of players who don't use any user script if quality of life improvements were inside the game proper. So, I don't agree that it's an invalid suggestion. Maybe "unrealistic" due to Kinkoid's current approach of being dependent on unpaid outsiders to make their game playable. But in a different world where HH developers were focused on user experience instead of cramming new things to do everywhere, maybe a community script wouldn't be at least "mandatory" for play. And maybe a refocus on user experience would get them to see clearer what features can even be made to work and what's a usability nightmare.

  17. Level 300 cap on CC is like having no cap, at least for most clubs.
    2 points
  18. Dear all, I recently joined the game and I like it very. Being determined in developing something solid in it, I recently opened a club called GEM ‘Gay Emporium Mecanicae’. (ID: 2222) The reference is from the ‘Mecanicae Imperium’ from the manga BT’X. I thought of using the term ‘Imperium’ but I was not totally up for it, because we don’t claim to be the best. Emporium may sound a bit diminishing but a part of the robot/android/cyborg fetish community is into the objectification of subject into obedient sexual units. But more broadly, our objective is to show that through machine and technology, come hot piece of metal that may give you quite a blast… but let’s leave the imagination be and be more factual. I want to create and develop something which would be a nice balance between a place to help and support newcomers with the boosts and also dedicated and serious players to accomplish the missions and help in developing the club. There is no level requirements for now. Perhaps there will be one later and perhaps potential members will have to send a request first. All depends on the hypothesis that the club will develop. I saw there is a chat system, but it does not work for me, and it is not possible to see the members’ status. I sent a message to know if the developing team was on solving this issue. If they can’t, I think I will open a discord server for the club, so it will be easier to chat with the other members. If you are interested and need more information, don’t hesitate to leave a message here or contact me. I can speak French or English. Take care or stay operational.

  19. I can relate, if you're not familiar with it or simply with it in the context of HH. It's fairly widespread, always has been and likely always will be. It's most common between clubmates indeed, in lower divisions and up to D3's top 45 or maybe 30 I'd say. Just something that comes up organically: oh hey! you're in my league this week; scratch my back and I'll scratch yours? — sure, why not. I've done it myself plenty of times with clubmates in the past, as I'm sure many other regular LAAs have. It's easy to set up, the benefits are clear and simple whereas the downsides are mostly hypothetical and don't really matter. Plus, people who socialize more or less daily and directly in chat often tend to want to help each other (in clubs with positive vibes at least). I must add that for the most attentive players even in D2 it's something that is sometimes fairly easy to notice and even come to expect. You have 5-6 opponents from Club X in your league? Better keep an eye on them in case you can "catch them in the act" and also grab freebie points in the process. ^^ I used to do this a lot (won't name any names here). When the stakes get higher, I'd say it's a lot less automatic and also more diverse. Some players are afraid they'll get noticed by most of their tough opponents during the short time they "undress" for someone, and lose tons of points in the process (some are borderline paranoid about that honestly ^^). Others don't care at all about that and take the more rational approach to the risk that even if they're monitored by more opponents than the average competitor, it's highly unlikely many of their fiercest opponents will catch them while they're weakened (discretion is advised, and also picking a snapshot during which less people are online on average helps) and even if a handful do, it won't make or break their own result. But it'll give them bonus points when the player(s) they made a deal with return the favor, so it's worth it, and even nice. At that level, it's not unusual to do that with people of your rank rather than from your club specifically, though (especially if there's a big gap between you and some of your clubmates). This usually goes through Discord rather than in-game club chat. There's also the "No Compromise!" camp who find this and often also other forms of cooperation disgraceful, not worthy of their warrior code, or even consider it "cheating" (which it isn't, and it's not considered as such by Kinkoid or anyone in charge of anything, just to be clear). It can be pretty funny (some even roleplay ^^). If you ask me, in a game where the basic mechanics of PvP battles are skewed and imbalanced by default (and more and more susceptible to P2W boosts on top of that...) "honorable" battles, at least individual fights, is a pretty comical notion. But to each their own. And well, it varies a lot from time to time and from player to player, but that's a broad description of the main tendencies on this practice, if you will. And it's not always as obvious and black and white as the example you've noticed (though I must say: it's not very nice of you to have named this opponent and potentially drawn attention to them while they were doing a weakening; of course, you genuinely didn't suspect that at the time, but in the future, I'd recommend not doing that). It can be as subtle and casual as "oh hey, friend, my boosters just expired and we're in the same league, would you like to attack me now? — sure, ty" or as complex and well-organized as specific groups getting in touch whenever some of them are in the same league so they can make full 75-point trades. It's just one lever some players can pull here and there (which requires trust and reliability, and can have downsides). I wish you would start being familiar enough with me to realize this bias is unfounded, by now. Sarcastic, sure. Talking down to people? That's very different and not my cup of tea, no. Don't assume I'm laughing at your expense every time something makes me laugh in an exchange with you. I can laugh with you, or about something you said, and not necessarily at you. Anyways. Hope this helped.

  20. No, never experienced this. And there isn't a single teammate of theirs, so this is a level of win-trading I was not expecting. I could have used a slightly less patronizing explanation, but by now I should be familiar with you sarcastic and talking down attitude, so this one is on me I guess.
    1 point
  21. Is this really the first time you encounter the notion of win trading (or weakening as it's often called in the community) in leagues? You never partook in this widespread practice, or heard of it, or noticed a strong player with a clearly deliberate "have 75 points on me" line-up until today? And it didn't occur to you that this was likely intentional and meant for a specific player they know in your group once you noticed it either? Well, ignorance is bliss I guess.

  23. Hello meat bags and fellow units ^^, Perhaps this was already asked but I couldn't find the information on the forum. Is there a discord server for Gay Harem in general ? If there is not, is there another discord for the whole Kinkoid gaming universe, if there is... well thank you for indicating me the link and I will surely need a good maintenance to have a better data processing procedures next time XD. 27. I'm at the point where I'm considering using Voyeur gems on 3-star Rare girls, just because I have nothing else to spend it on and need fodder to reach the 100 girl requirement for level 750. At first the shower of Voyeur gems was nice, but at this point it's just annoying because I have no way to actually spend them, while every other gem type is languishing. Oh, and I'm now fighting Werebunny Police because I've cleaned out every other villain of girls, so more Voyeur gems... yay...

Nice observation on the count for seasons, forgot they didn't start at the same time. taking that info into account. if they hold to what I'm seeing CC10's Huntress Venam was from 2020-08-24, first season was 2020-11-02 with how meany girls left till that time range we will find out at about CC20 to CC24. That also assuming they don't skip the first season like POA

  31. There should be a button "Add to queue" near every single mission for let's say 5 Kobans. There are days when we don't have time to click every several minutes on next mission and we would cope with sacrificing several Kobans from the final reward and use the queuing.

  32. Hello fellow members and units, My ID is Cybboy and I am located in France. A friend of mine made me discover this game and I enjoy playing it very much. Having a kink and fetish for androids and cyborgs (especially full replacement cyborg units), I found in this game some of my favourites such as Genos and Sechs (though being bi, I also have quite a crush on Gally too ^^). Even if my main focus is on full cyborg characters, some meat bags look very cute. I must admit I do imagine some being converted into full cyborgs or androids, and this does make me overload too. I also see in this game a medium to meet and chat with other people who would share my fetish or not. I may be a machine now but I keep an open mind. I recently opened a club called GEM ‘Gay Emporium Mecanicae’. The reference is from the ‘Mecanicae Imperium’ from the manga BT’X. I thought of using the term ‘Imperium’ but I was not totally up for it, because we don’t claim to be the best. But more broadly, our objective is to show that through machine and technology, come hot piece of metal that may give you quite a blast. Hope see more about you all fellow members and perhaps have a talk. I can speak French or English. Sincerely. Take care, and for my fellow units, stay operational.

  33. There's still 28 hours on the event, so by finishing early, you missed on over 60 free combativity (650 Kobans). Going for a Mythic Girl when another girl is present is risky, especially regarding the use of SP Boosters. I don't know the drop rate of World girls; so it's hard to say if it's best to use SP or not. You should plan more Kobans/Combativity in that case. 9600 Kobans is largely enough if: - The mythic girl is alone with her villain - You have 5 SP Boosters already - You have some stored combativity - You use all 3 days of natural regen (Or at least 2.5 days, i.e. you finish her on the last day of the event) However, in any other situation, 9600 is indeed very risky (That 890 Combativity worth of Kobans; 990 with 2 days of regen, which gives you "only" 99% chances of getting the girl if she's alone; and ~95% if there's another girl on the villain (Assuming Classic Event drop rates)) When going for 2 girls at the same time, depending on your strategy, you need: - More fights but less boosters (If you only activate your booster after claiming the first girl). Usually 4 boosters required instead of 5 - As many fights but more boosters (If you activate your booster immediately). 6 or 7 boosters required instead of 5 As a lower-level free to play player, I'd recommend: - If you barely have enough Kobans, only go for cheaper or more powerful Mythic girls (In your case, Titania was more expensive because you also had to fight for Xia, and she's only an average Mythic girl in terms of power). More powerful ones should always be a priority though. - Prepare well (Store as much combativity as you can, as well as 5 or even 6/7 boosters) - Wait until you have a good stash of resources (Going for only 1/2 or 2/3 mythic girls will allow your kobans stash to grow and be less risky) Mythic girls require a large investment, but at least the first 7 of them are really important to make more Kobans in the leagues. Last tip: try to obtain your 3 common girls on all villains, especially from Edwarda to Finalmecia (I think Mythic Girls don't appear on lower-level or higher-level Villains; only mid-level ones). You really don't want to fight for multiple girls at the same time when using boosters; it makes the event 5 to 10% more expensive (Without boosters, it's the opposite: fighting for multiple girls at the same time is best)

  34. It's a valid suggestion because not everyone has the script. People would not need the script if the game just had what it did in the game.

  35. Are the mythic perfumes counted under the 11k kobans spent or maybe you wasted combativity on first day when no shards were left by mistake?

  37. Hey, wait, those are two distinct features. One is the alchemy, another is the market change (that's already scheduled, we dunno when). You cannot have both at once. You only have one wish by post. On a more practical sense, the alchemy thing allow you to fuse such epic/rare in quantities to get something higher, maybe a legendary (and many legendary into a mythic...). Maybe is something that turn more valuable by selling the single items. So, hiding is not necessary. I think is a bit early to call for suggestions if the feature is limited to a GIMP mockup so far.

  38. I forgot to mention this earlier. You can change Donatien to tier 1 from the Adventure page. So when you fight for the mythic girl, you won't use sandlewood on any villain girl shards. Once you get the mythic girl, you can change Donatien back to tier 2.
    1 point
  39. First up, thanks to EVERYONE who replied on this thread. There is solid information here - and I really appreciate that. I suspect that other players will find these responses useful for a long time to come. I will hold off for the third day, and in the meantime wear down Donatien 2nd tier with natural regen, which is the best level for me as there is one remaining girl (Xia) on 20 shards, while the other levels are all still present. I have enough Sandlewood, and a small amount of stored Combativity (the season just re-ticked over, so not a lot, but some), to make a go of this. Thank you.

  40. Another week in D3, started at level 465, finished at level 467. Here is the screenshot taken 2 minutes before the end of the league. Final rank: 5th Boosters used : 18 legendaries (1 cordycep / 2 gingseng 6 times). No mythic booster. 101 players -> 100 opponents -> 300 possible fights -> 300 fights performed -> 297 wins and 3 losses I should have used 1 or 2 mythic boosters to get a top 4 but no regrets. Congrats to @Ol Sheriff Joe for his victory. Special mention to the lvl 413 player who had the strongest team in this league for the 2 blessings (full team lvl 750). The power of the credit card is rewarded 😄 Take care

  41. I have a small complaint about Honey and Greta, (even though I won't get them 😒). I was checking out the wiki 🤓, b/c I noticed they should have dual eye and hair color, and then I searched for them in the harem and realized that they don't 🤨. Commented this on the wiki: https://harem-battle.club/wiki/Harem-Heroes/HH:Honey-and-Greta?do=comments#comment20585 "Shouldn't their Hair and Eye color both say Pink and Blue, instead of "Blue and Blue," or "Pink and Pink?" One has both Pink, and one has both Blue, but collectively they should gain the blessings of both, and it doesn't seem that they do. If I search for Pink eyes and Blue hair, they show up in the harem. Searching for Blue eyes and Pink hair should work too, but it doesn't, so they haven't been given dual hair and eye color. This pair of girls are only in the pachinko, making them difficult to get, so they should have both attributes, otherwise it feels they're being robbed of their possible dual blessings. Unless you already recruit them, it wouldn't be obvious to a player that they don't have 2 eye and hair attributes, when they are drawn that way. Anyone that gets this girl will end up feeling ripped off once they realize that." Hashirama14 said this: "No worries, this confuses me for good five seconds when I saw it the first time. But then, that is what's written on the system so it will be that way on the wiki too. Maybe they'll fix it soon, who knows. And if so, I'll change it accordingly." Hopefully, they're fixed to have both, b/c they obviously do. There's a precedent for it, "Ria" already has both Pink and Blue hair/eyes. Pairs of girls usually include both like "Gina and Lulu's" Blonde/Red hair, and Blue/Red eyes. Also "Fanny & Fione" w/ their Red/Purple hair and Blue/Red eyes.

  43. My feedback on Patch Notes #13 New Side Quest: Here I go taking a new journey into the Ninja Sacred Lands, revisiting a nameless town to meet up with a girl who doesn't exist! Yes, I know Kioko exists as a Epic and Legendary girl, but the patch notes say this is a "common" sidequest. If it is a "common sidequest" shouldn't I be meeting with one of the common girls? Oh wait, maybe when I meet Common Kioko she will join my harem which would be a real treat though she isn't shown as a reward *sigh.* My verdict: failed RPG opportunity even if more story is nice. Waifu: Continueing failure here: 1st: The miscoded CSS for the girls image has not been fixed (why this is so when it's a one-line code fix is just weird to me). 2nd: The order of the new menu should be grouped by RPG activity, not by the order players use the menu items. Like minded menu items should be grouped together (i.e. Harem+Market+Pachinko or Adventure+Activities). Now obvious grouping is a RPG opportunity indicator as it shows areas in the game which still need improvement or expansion. 3rd: Tower of Fame change to Leagues. Incomplete change imho since the Club leader board is still in the "Leagues." I don't mind that much except for one minor detail. This menu item is the ONLY place inside the game where players can join a club or check its standing inside the game! Awakening: I like the new pop-up. Path of Attraction & Path of Valor: Okay I guess. This won't change my opinion on the Path of Valor or change my play style, but seeing the girls instead of a shadow is cool. Club Champion Level Cap: The community feedback has consistently been for a dialing back on the Club Champions strength by level and for more than a randomized token "participation reward" for players who have obtained the girl. Having a final strength cap which will occur sometime in the future for the vast majority of the clubs is nice but fails miserably in addressing the communities feedback. Regular Champions Level Cap: Seriously? Once the girl has been obtained the only reason to even play this feature comes from a desire or need to obtain kisses, or from Contest or PoA requirements. Usable equipment items are all but non-existent (my spreadsheet shows a 1 in 540 drop rate). In short, the cap means nothing for a player at my level. New Girls: Yes! It's kinda strange to be happier for the release of 1* Common girls over a 3* Legendary, but given the Gems and Awakening system the 1* girls get you to the numbers you need for true team building to occur much faster than any 3 star legendary ever will. New Features: 1st: Heroes Equipment: imho this is an acknowledgment that the current Market, Pachinko, and Champions system is broken when it comes to obatining usable equipement as a matter of game play. The other systems work, but the drop rates and expense to remain up to date varies wildly due to the RNG algorithims being used. Now we see a new system where we can attempt to create our own custom equipment upgrade. This system includes a new class not available by any other means (Mythic Equipment) but does not promise better equipment when the process is finished. So we have yet another cash nerf in the making, you want to keep the very items you could sell to make money, with no assurance that what you are building will even be usable in game. 2nd: Journey: Still curious about this, still not enough info to say yea or nay. 3rd: Messenger Chat: Chat with a AI routine? I built one of those thingies years ago and wasn't impressed. Maybe the tech has caught up but not holding my breath. 4th: Labyrinth: All told, this is my favorite of the bad ideas. The video has me curious on how it will play out in the real game.

  44. Edit: I've now added the champion level to the champion page as part of the champions info module in HH++ v1.11.4

  45. @Liliat summed up most things nicely. I'll just add my biggest concerns to the list: Unlike Club Champions, we don't have a visual on what would be the current level of any of our classic Champions (that I know of at least). All we see is how many times we beat each champion's full cycle in the past, and that relates to how strong they are, but it can't be their "level", especially if the cap is set as insanely high as 900. Basically, to even understand the impact of this change, we're missing an equivalent of this screen for regular champions: I know my club's Ezekiel is currently at level 235, which gives me an idea of what his level 300 will be like. I have no idea what my own Romero's current level is, which gives me no idea of what his level 900 will be like. Please confirm with no ambiguity that this will work retroactively and that when this feature goes live, all existing players will instantly receive skill points (or Boons) matching their current level. This seems absolutely obvious and mandatory for this feature to work and to avoid enraging the community, and I've already raised this point back in the Survey and the thread about the Survey. Still, it's not confirmed explicitly in these patch notes, which is a bit concerning. Please, please say it loud and clear. ----- Apart from that, good patch and although I could have done without the Mythic equipment crafting system (I do hope the live feature will be cheaper than what's shown in the mockup), as this will give yet another advantage to level 500 players over anyone still leveling up... Unless we can grab some Mythic equipment as rewards here and there without having to craft it at the hefty cash and orb price shown in the mockup, or purchasing it outright with kobans. Overall, I'm looking forward to the future additions listed in these notes. And I'm absolutely fine and even appreciate the minor but nice changes we got today. PS: The new PoP girl, the new side quest and the (excellent!) visual change to the Awakening screen are already live. Other changes will likely show up at reset time, hopefully (including the two new 1-star girls)? Best regards, Div*

  46. For those absolutely desperate for the old layout, v1.11.0 of HH++ now has a legacy layout mode (off by default). Note: not compatible with the right-side rearrange Style Tweak added in v1.10.0
