So you've implemented gems. Okay. You can milk some extra cash for players to become stronger than their level. But if you're level 350, it would be nice to have that mean something. You should still be able to level-up your harem to your existing level without gem requirements. That would give meaning to your player level. Level 300, level 350, level 400; these would be milestones with a substantive reward for your efforts. A reward for your longevity and dedication. Something to aim for.

This would at least be a simple implementation that might soften the blow of what otherwise looks like nothing more than a cash grab. Give your devoted players a bone, as it were.
