since a couple of days you can filter the girls in the harem by the new Cumback contest event and this was the only girl shown

Awesome powers of observation. I was looking in the harem to see what PoA & Seasons girls I was missing, and seeing "Cumback Contests" and looking there.

While Holymolly may want to give me credit for seeing it on test, I am not in the test server.

FYI - it appears that buying Pachinko orbs doesn't count to the Use Pachinko Orbs competition. I've just burned through ~100 mil Ymen only to find my points unchanged. A bit of bait and switch going on there.

An "Orb" is a free pachinko ticket. You can't buy them. If you buy the pachinko directly, there is no orb involved That's the difference between "Play Pachinko" (using whatever method you like) and "Spend Pachinko Orbs" (Using... orbs ).

I think you're definitions are pretty ambiguous there...

If I go into a Pachinko parlour am I only using a Pachinko ball if I brought it in with me? Do the ones I buy at the counter not get "used" when I play them? The very set-up of the system has you using orbs (balls) regardless of how you acquire them. That's how Pachinko's played.

There's a difference between our World Japaneese Pachinko and the Haremverse Pachinko even if it's named similar. 😉

Originally you had only the chance to spend Koban or Yumen to play Pachinko so you had to buy the balls regular in the casino. Later Masamura thought he will promote his Casino more and so KK introduced the free-Orbs so they can give them to all to promote the casino. And I think that's the difference: Only the promotion balls which Masamura spread on the whole Haremverse counts for this contest, not the regular balls you have to buy in the casino dircetly.

Well Kinkoid's goal with this event is to make people spend all their stashed orbs, so it makes sense that purchasing new ones does not count.

I wasn't trying to do any parallel with real-world Pachinko. My point is simply that when you "buy" something in the Pachinko, you don't receive an "Orb" in exchange, so there is no "Orb" involved.

The in-game definition of the Orb is: "Use Orbs in the Pachinko instead of the usual currency price".

So the orb really represents a "free game", and not something you can use as the "ball" to play the game. It's just a token you can exchange for a free game.

When the in world system is modelled on a real world mechanic, but then deviates from that real world mechanic it's good practice to make that clear.

If they don't want the Pachinko 'games' they give out to be considered equivalent to playing a ball in a Pachinko machine, don't make them 'orbs' - that's asking for players to make the real world comparison to the balls you put in the games. And there's no difference whatsoever between how a Pachinko ball functions based on how you acquired it.

Add to that that in all Pachinko contests to date, bought orbs count as always.

It's not a big point, but I don't think it can be reasonably argued that this CC could not benefit from clarification. The same as the DC PXP comps where they explictly state that bundle XP doesn't count.

Starting with an easy Top 15 (63 + 1 MP, a few GPx1 Orbs, and some Pantheon fights, for a total of ~225k points). I already have the girl, so I'm mostly looking for Books and Gems (Although the shards would've helped with the current PoV )

I just reach lvl 600x70, so I'm ready to spend Gems 💎

Depsite my discontent - grabbed #3. I'm sitting on Lvl 400, so one more and it's 'Doom' time. The other two days look like they're going to be a mess to deal with, so I figured I'd press on the Pachinko day for a nice return.

I hope everyone's spotted that it's by far and away the best strategy to use MP orbs on CCs (unless you have a huge supply of GP orbs, remembering that you can't buy them )

EDIT - It still cost me ~130k points more to take 3rd than @blaa's #1!

Same here, and I am below the bracket of death. I had to spend 281k just to place 13th, but those we exclusively 1xGP orbs, so in a way it was still cheap.

I'm not a fan of additional contests that pit players against each other.  While everything is more or less "elective" in the game and players can opt out, it's implicit that if we pass on these contests, we will be weaker than our peers.  The tone of the game is increasingly to compete in bloodbath after resource draining bloodbath.  No, thanks.

Overall, though, the rewards for placement are generous and while I preferred dating tokens, it's nice to catch an additional girl now and then.  I'm just not sure that I'll make a habit of running these weekly, if that's the plan for them.  Perhaps I'll take a more opportunistic approach.  If there's synergy with a daily contest, or if my cohort seems resource drained, then I'll run.

I do miss the more or less solo play, with competition limited to ToF and Arena/Seasons.  Simpler times, and more fun for me since I'm not a competitive player.

Unlike Legendary Contests, players are not separated based on whether they already own the girl or not. So, as soon as you join the contest, you're "taking" shards from other players.

And if I remember correctly, extra shards (> 100) do not count in PoV, so they won't really help either. It's really just a choice between extra flowers or extra MPx1 orbs.

Clearly. Lots of XP, lots of Rainbow gems, that's a good boost towards lvl 750. Girl or a couple of MPx1 orbs? Doesn't really matter. The girl is just a nice addition for those who missed her (The 600 PoV Potions are probably worth more than the girl herself )
