can someone explain the differences between the different specialties. hardcore , charm and knowhow.

Hardcore, charm and knowhow use to be significant but when they overhauled the battle system last year became mostly obsolete. It was the original rock, paper scissors type of combat and each had their own special ability, charm increased defence, knowhow healed & hardcore got critical hits. Last year they introduced the BDSM system which changed combat from 3 to 7 guys and introduced elements with 2 different domination schemes.

Currently the only real significant use of them now is for place of power where you need the power of those classes to run the missions to complete the rewards faster. You can find more detailed information about it and the battle system here: https://harem-battle.club/wiki/Gay-Harem/GH:Battle

They also still govern your own player character's stats, don't they?

Ergo which stat is responsible for attack power, ego, defense and harmony.

For player stats they do but as most people just use rainbow legendary equipment it doesn't make a big difference, just which stat you should focus on upgrading first. When you get to be 400+ people should try to keep a set of mono legendary equipment for their class if they want to have a better shot at winning higher levels of pantheon.
