Are the high endurance items worth it

If you're talking about hero equipment like this :

Then probably no. Only level 20 mythic gear is worth it I think.
Before mythic gear, we only played with all stats equipment too from what I remember (I wasn't competitive at the time but best players were not using these so it's a deduction).

Edit: Sorry for the mixup, yeah defense != endurance. Endurance contributes to ego (Health Points). I was thinking of defense for the following but it's still true. Also check this which explains how the stats works.

Endurance Defense is better than harmony in most cases, so on mythic pieces it's the best element passive.

In PvP, it's nice to have defense but if you are hitting like a mosquito, you won't win a lot of points. You will just eliminate low odds of really bad scores mostly.

Legendary equip is only a thing until you have access to Mythic-equip (should start dropping after player-lvl200). In this early days you should only use the "rainbow" ones . 

All other have the problem, that even they boost one or two stats more than a rainbow one, you loose in total other relevant stat-points. And mdnoria rembered correct: in the time before Mythic-equip was added, the goal was to have a full set of "rainbow" Legendary equip.

Now, like mdnoira pointed out you should try to gain Mythic equip with the combination attack/defence, but have in mind, that the Bonus is only active, if it matches with your class, your Team element. For the long run it means you should upgrade only Mythic equip that matches your class and tried to gain full sets of every element (Don't forget balanced! 😉 ). Until you have for all slots the Mythic equip it will last a long time, but like mdnoria pointed out earlier: the endurance defense Bonus is nice, but not a game changer, so it's ok if you have a full set of Mythic equip with your own class: attack, but different elements.

We've all been there at some point. It's okay. Over time, you'll accumulate a lot of duplicate (identical) mythic gear and none of the necessary ones for a full set. Then you'll have to combine them with what you have.
