How you doing in the "League"

You should have stayed in S2. As I recall, you and I were in the same league if not last week then the week before, and we were pretty close to equal in strength. I've just stayed at 16th in S2 since then, but now, now is my time. 2nd highest ego in my league, and the one guy above me is only slightly so. I boosted up, and waited for the right judge and I got my 3 wins against him. 1st place and 1920 kobans, here I come.

1st place since ...? i think i never was 1st before that ^^

I told you that you were going to have a much better position than me ... but not so fast. :o I am a bit envious because I haven't got a 1st place yet.

In the current league my objective is still 15th. Currently 14th, so I am on course.

Looking at my S1 group, I entered as the 5th lowest level hero and my rough guess is that there are only about 45 winnable fights out of 297, or a max score of 387.  I also suspect that I'm guessing on the high side since a whole bunch of those likely winners are very temporary...it looks like the snapshot caught many players leveling up their girls in the Arena,or going soft for other's sport.  By morning, many may be gone.

...and they were.  I'm already out of the top 30 and seem destined for 61-75 or worse.  I see no hope in the foreseeable future to climb any higher than that. I shouldn't have tried to promote at all, and now I'm reaping what I've sown.

Neither I think.  It's the result of

  1. a badly planned rewards scheme in the Leagues. This is why people are manouevering to finish 16th ad nauseum, and others are cycling between finishing top 4 and immediately demoting.  And...
  2. a stubbornness about using gamesmanship to play the system instead of trying one's best. I play a lot of tabletop games and when gamesmanship or outright cheating (or lying) are built into the rules of the game I decline playing them.

But, this is really the topic for another thread (that has gone inactive since there is nothing new to add to it).

snowman22's adventures in S3.

snowman22 was doing a lot better in S3 than he had expected. It was day 5 and he had only a few losses. Of course all the 190K+ ego (and many high 180K) players remained but 50th place looked doable and he was starting to dream of 45th or better.

If only the old dude judge would show up.

I have realized I probably won't fight for 15th place in D1. A lot of players have recharged with kobans, so now I cannot reach that place only with free challenges. The difference of rewards between 5-15th and 16-30th is 612 kobans so it is only worth three or less recharges, and that is a maximum of 135 points if I win all battles. I will see standings tonight and decide.

Well, there was only 1 person that I wasn't going to be able to defeat so I decided to go for broke and use a refill. Will see in a couple hours if that was enough to get me first or i someone is able to squeak past enough wins. Either way I will be in SIII for next league.

Good luck,  top 15 in D1 is a pretty lofty ambition

Very strange race in my S2 bracket with half a day to go:

Of those top 5 going for the big koban spots, only Quentin is actually a very strong player (KH 183k). The other four are merely good-not-great (all around 165k), and not really much better than those who make up the rest of the top 15.

Three other players are above 175k in ego, but they're...

  • a HC 184k, who's currently sitting in 14th place. I'm not sure if he's tanking or not - he's never been outside the top 15 from what I remember, but also never higher than 8th or so. Could easily finish top 4 if he wanted to, possibly even first. Waiting to see how high the frontrunners go?
  • the probably strongest player of them all, HC 187k. Hasn't done much battling all week long and is currently all the way down in 76th place.
  • and a HC 178k who's on zero points.

I'm tanking here as expected. Wasn't fully clear until yesterday when 4 of those 5 leaders started to make a serious push - I'm not far off from them (except Quentin, of course), but I think I'd have fallen just a little bit short of all their scores in the end, so finishing top 4 was finally out of the question as of ~24 hours ago. Quite a serious tanking effort though, I've still got 21 safe wins remaining and I don't think I'll even get to fight all of those, let alone any questionable matchups on top of that.

Quentin must have lost twice to one of those two HC players... He's at a 3x+2 tally.

Just trying to hold onto a top 30 finish again today.  Currently in top 20, but won't be able to complete all challenges without a refill and that just isn't worth it.  Slept in a couple days.  Looks like, barring a miracle, the rest of my challenges will be losses.

Finished 19th. Saw someone jump to a max 2 points higher than I could, so S3 has me another week. I look to be the strongest by far atm and only 100 players, so I can make a jumpto the max score on tuesday or so? Looking good to finally pick up p1. 🤞🏻

My 1st crack at S3 went a lot better than I expected. I finished 36th out of 107. I would have been happy with anything over 50th.

The current S3 (includes @DHarry  I think so he can call out my white lies) looks much easier. The egos break down:

  • 200K+  1
  • 190K+  8
  • 180K+  24
  • 170K+  34        includes me: 179K, L270 4th lowest, 100 in bracket
  • 160K+  21
  • 150K+  12

Last week the most common band was 180K+ and the whole shebang looks like it is shifted 8K? lower this time. This weeks goal > 30th.
