    Let's get this straight:

    You made a mistake.

Now you are angry and want to blame the developers for your mistake.

Instead of accepting you are human and can make mistakes.

Please don't be a Karen about this. If you have legitimate complaints, you have a right to demand things, but this is rather obviously your own mistake.

let's get this straight - a mistake is having all informations available and doing the wrong thing - this is not at all what happend here.

I'm also not "angry", just my professional itch for doing things the proper way needs to be scratched - meaning, would be great if Kinkoid would spare in future other gamers similar disappointments by providing game mechanic changes via in-game channels, reliable and robust.

The external information sources are internal information sources, like two auto pop up and a link to the forum that, as you can see, it's proven you can access and read. You also own a Club and surely you could have asked and someone quoted.

I'm quite sure you do a lot of "meta" in COD or whatever other software you're using, if you ever using one: to use Word at my pro level, you have to access zillion of external references. Programs are barely self explained in their own interface alone.

If you don't care the game, it's assumed you don't care the changes.

I'll translate the whole of your post in human language:

"I failed to obtain the Cumpetition girl, I have to rant".

And now explain me how someone can invest MONEY to get DATE TOKENS. I cannot. You cannot. No one can.

Take this 2 cents and go play with baloons.

I care about game mechanics very much - in fact i take my most joy out of discovering and optimizing game mechanics myself - i intentional avoid potential sources of spoiler information (like cheat sheets, forums etc) to challenge myself. No, i dont play games the "optimize and win at all cost and also with external resources & help" way , as it seems you do.

About my forum use now, i headed to the forum as for me the immersion of the game was broken - something happend unexpected and unexplained by the internal coherent existing game mechanisms - last resort approach, if the game broke for me.

About investing money for dating tokens, there is just now a parallel thread going on where a gamer described how he intentional invested money into kobane and then into fights to maximize his dating token amount - i guess you can find this thread.

Actually it was - you got a huge message announcing the change. So quit whining and learn to read.

I stand by my interpretation that it was not huge and properly communicated: It is claimed it was one time a daily message (haven't seen it) , but these daily messages are often of low information content and therefore clicked over by many players; it was indeed several times in the patch notes but theses  are not the right announcement channels for future mechanic changes but the past.

Proper announcement methods would have been: message in harem screen+blinking dating token or mouseover message, window filling message on login on last day, count down timer on the bottom of the screen etc etc. So there ware many ways doing it more properly - in game.

I think you should ask yourself if it's a good idea not to read patch notes (and in-game news too) and then asking others to assume the things you do. Why are these notes written, according to you ?

Nothing forbids you to try to earn a compensation, of course. I guess you have zero chance to succeed, but maybe I'm wrong.

I mean, yes you can frame the situation that way that fault is on players who don't like to do the spoilerish metagaming like reading patch notes or forums - but i'm a strong believer in self-explaining games and software in general. It should not be needed to go to external information sources to understand the game mechanics or change of them. The information was not properly enough communicated via in-game methods (which are plenty) - I think gamers caught by this are rightful angry, especially the ones, who invest real money to get dating tokens.

If you actually read the patch notes it makes it seem they might return some time in the future however you had more than a month to spend your dating tokens.
don't need compensation if they plan to bring them back in the future in some form.  (if they do this i don't think they will do it until some time next year though.)

I asked the support - they told me they will not bring dating tokens back. So the question of compensation or temporarily re-activation IS indeed at hand.

look... I get that you kinda messed up by introducing dating tokens, and you felt like you couldn't leave them in because it was throwing off the rarity balance. I get that

but just removing them entirely, with zero compensation, was a huge dick move. I paid real money, more than once, to get extra fight energy just to farm those, because there was a specific character I was saving up for. they were not common enough that this was something I could do easily. moreover, if I didn't think I would be able to get that character with dating tokens if I failed, I would have put more effort in while he was up. so hopefully you can understand my frustration here

do you see how from where I'm sitting, you basically ate that money?
I don't have a lot of money that I can just spend frivolously, I was occasionally treating myself while building to a long-term goal, happy to support a developer that's putting out fun gay content. you see how that's kind of a cool, mutually beneficial relationship? when I started out, I was really hesitant to pay for anything, I kinda pride myself on not getting influenced by the free to play model, but as time went on I was getting more and more used to paying for stuff. I even splurged on one of those premium memberships. bought a couple season passes. because I appreciated the work that was going into it and I liked the small joy of working towards and eventually achieving long-term goals. you snuffed that out, with the only warning being in one of those pop-ups that we're basically trained (by you) to log in and immediately close without reading because they happen every single day

frankly, I feel like I was robbed, and I'm done with this game
you want to string people along with little dopamine hits to keep pumping them for money, fine, but you need to be real fucking careful when you give players something, and then take it away, because that's how you lose customers. did you not see sales spikes for the fight tokens at the start of the month, when the dating tokens were available? I definitely assumed you did, because that's when the best deals routinely appeared. 220 fists for 5 bucks, great bargain. those sales are human beings giving you their hard earned money in good faith.
I can't in good conscience keep supporting a team that's gonna take my money, and then remove the features that I paid that money for. sorry. it's a matter of principle.

hate to go, but I guess thanks for all the extra time I'll have per day not having to check in, and the ten or so bucks a month I won't be spending
getting fucked over is better than a nicotine patch for breaking habits, eh?

so I guess my feedback is, in the future, don't introduce a feature unless you are ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that you're not going to remove it later and effectively rob your customers of everything they invested into it in the meantime

    that's all
    peace, god bless

yes, I agree. I think they should at least allow the players to use their earned (and paid for!) dating tokens by temporarily re-activing this feature again - or compensate them as it was suggested in this thread.

Also, this seems to be not a fringe issue - many players are affected I guess - but as the forum goers WERE aware of this change, the caught by surprise non-forum goers are less likely to end up here and vent - there are many more .

I dont think its right just to remove the date tokens without any type of compensation, I paid a lot of money to accumulate those, wheres my money???

Yes, indeed - i think this was managed not very well. While the forum using players were most likely aware of this coming change - the players not using the forum or reading patch notes were caught most likely by surprise - I guess you too.

Also, you are not only one who got affected by this drastic feature and currency removal - there are more people, see example threads.

In fact, I would be quite interested how many players got affected by this currency removal....

What compensation you would have in mind? What ratio Dating tokens to Kobane you would find fair? Or you have orbs in mind?

It was, though. In the news post for the patch notes on the 29th of September, the message about dating tokens was copied verbatim, not just in the patch notes. This post was full screen and in-your-face when it was posted, but a lot of players, such as yourself, simply click those messages away without reading them.

thanks! Indeed, it seems I missed that.

How do you guys think game changes are announced (if not by the patch notes that y´all obviously haven´t read)? Seriouly I´d like to know because those comments are hella confusing and exhausting to read imo ...

well, I think it could have been easily communicated via the many in-game messaging methods:

    - via the daily message directly there "Player, remember today last day to use your dating tokens - for balancing reasons they will be shot down tomorrow" (not just a daily message with further indirection ala spammy "patch note released - link here" without any hint how serious this time it is)

    - as screenfilling on-the-nose-message on login to the player: "Remember today last day!" (like the "Kinkoid team sends you -..." message)

    - as counter on the bottom like the selling offers: "dating token support runs out in 3d 2h 12s"

    - in the harem as mousover on the dating token counter + blinking dating token counter

Core point is: there would have been dozends of ways to do it properly in game.

As last remark, some people told people who lost now their dating tokens due to missing information, they should have just read the forum or patch notes regularily: I still don't think this can be expected from all gamers, one reason why i minimized such "meta gaming" exposure is, as it breaks for me to some the degree the immersion of learning game mechanics naturally in-game as often they are spoilerish and this takes the fun aspect away from fiddling with and exploring a game.

you are not the only one for sure  - the insufficient communication methods of the developer are to blame here. Maybe we should gather all the impacted persons in one thread - as suggested above by Bomba. Maybe the "suggestion" section is the right place.

    "Hello, dear player!

I know you don't care about patch notes that explictly say that there's something new on user's end, so probably you will not even read this 'end user upcoming feature' notice, as apparently you're too lazy to care for the game you're investing so much time."

It is good that they communicate ahead their changes, but classically (in technical domain) the "patch notes" are not the usual channel to communicate with the end-user about the future. Maybe they should have called it "Game Announcements" - even better if they would have done it in-game with their screen filling message windows on player login on the last day. Using the "patch notes" is unusual and can lead therefore to misunderstandings and miscommunicatiosn - as it happend here.

They messaged about it in game at least 3 times. That's what the news ticker in your left corner is for. As much as I dislike the removal of DT, claiming it wasnt made clear is just completely untrue.

And we've talked about it a ton in the forum. Half the meme contest is about it.

well, If it was announced there but I missed it, then it was at least partly my fault. But I guess many players missed it - in fact a temporary removal could be the best method to grab attention of all players and then activate it a last time for 1-2 days, when all players have noticed.

This sounds like the source of all your problems. I would recommend working on fixing this, and you'll not have these problems in the future.

Well, I'm in the technical domain myself - a patch note is not an announcement channel for future changes for the end-users.

  14. well, I was caught as well off-guard by the temporarily (?) disabeling as I don't read patch notes regularily - also, patch notes should be not used as announcement channel of future important (!!!) changes for normal players - It should have been messaged in-game by the many possibilities there.

  15. Hello holymoly, Hello 430i, thank you for your responses!

I had only ~3-4 contest rewards stocked up - but the 21 day limit from the other bug report sounds possible.

It would be really good if it would be warned before or at least "auto taken" when the time limit is hit...well.

As I think this  should be visible to the users I will try to escalate this as a official ticket - where can I set offical tickets (thought this forum would be it)? Have not found it... :(

    cheers

  16. Hi,

today I noticed that in HH (and in 1x CH beta) I lost 1x contest won girls which were there as reward. I didn't take them immediately as rewards can be taken delayed which is often helpful for further contests.

today I noticed these award slots went away without warning or notice- It was not obvious that there is a time limitation for the storage time of these rewards :(

Specifically, I lost the 5x star girl venus , which hurts... hope this can be recovered (or at least warned about in future)?

    cheers
