Cant battle Ethier because I dont have a class, my ego dropped to 2,200 Anyone got any ideas?

So bought the whip and used up my free turn on it Decided today to buy the know it all back bought it and ego drop to 2k and does mo show me having a class Tryed again still not showing class Now out 1200 and class shows blank Help plx

First is there a beginner's guide anywhere? Is there a way to view the stats of a item Noticed the little ! In top left but when I click on it ,it doesn't do anything?
