Just to confirm what many may be thinking (or have experienced) - I was due to get the girl from the last champion today (saved up to get 40+ tickets), but got two orbs instead. Neither of them got me a girl in the Pachinko, though to be honest I wasn't expecting one. What I WAS expecting, though, was that the devs would have put in some sort of code to notice people in this situation. As it stands, the introduction of the orbs categorically and demonstrably DID change my chance of getting the last girl. Not that I expect anything to be done about this, as others have noted the devs knew PRECISELY what would happen in this situation and apparently decided "Well, sucks to be those guys...".

Seconded - though I was not levelling girls at the time. Don't know if it's related, but the Arena only had two opponents, too - beat them both, after which I went to the Market (which is when I noticed all the missing books and gifts).

Just saw this myself; once my Combativity had increased to 1 once more the Arena works as expected (as in, it did not use up Combativity).
