So there is not a way to choose them mid-chapter without Remaxing?

Is there a way to pick which girls are present in the office? I had Lyrsa active and was building up her boss-defeating stats, but once I obtained Vanessa, Lyrsa disappeared from the office. It looks like only 5 girls can be active at once. So how can I pick who's active?
