  1. Candy Crush makes for a good example: do you win every level, every time? So, no, "you don't play a game to lose," but what I'm saying is that you shouldn't go into a game expecting to win every time. The key to it, and what I really see as the cause for argument, here, is the balance between too easy and too hard. Seems most people are finding that this event was too hard. I found that with a previous event, myself. I just didn't think it was true of this one. In fact, I really enjoyed this event -- how's that for an unpopular opinion? And yes, I simple browser-based game doesn't cost much to produce and host -- if you only take monetary costs into account. What about all of the artwork in this game? What about the story writing? Those things take time and effort, and the devs deserve to get paid for that, not just for covering the costs of production and hosting.
  2. Thing is, I did win the event. And yes, it took a lot of effort, but I didn't spend any kobans, either. And no, I didn't make any mistakes, but If I had only spent the kobans I received in the event, itself, I still would have been able to make ten mistakes. Bugs and other reasons for dissatisfaction with the event aside, I don't see that as unreasonable.
  3. Yeah, Daily Missions lagged badly. Wouldn't accept new missions or cash out old ones until I refreshed. After that, it still lagged, and when I clicked an "accept" button twice, it charged me kobans to complete the mission early. They really need to put an "Are you sure you want to do that?" pop-up on that. Now the site says "Under Maintenance." Hopefully, they're resetting the event. --EdM.
  4. Yeah, exactly. I just posted about that in the Bug Reporting forum.
  5. Came into the new event, and it showed only a single progress bar with Lyrsa at the end of it, and no other rewards, a timer that ran backwards into negative numbers, and stage one repeating over and over. Messed with this for a few minutes to try to figure out how it was supposed to work, refreshed the browser window, and got into the actual event. Unfortunately, it showed that I had already completed progress past stage 760, so I didn't get the first two rewards.
  6. I do understand that, completely. It came down to less than an hour to go for me to complete the last puzzle without spending any kobans, and that was with a large amount of patience and planning. If I had made one mistake, I wouldn't have finished the event without spending kobans. If that one mistake had led to others, I might not have finished the event. But then, I wasn't about to spend real money, so if that had happened, I would have lost. All I was saying is that, while jedc22 mentioned that you don't play a game to lose, you don't go in always expecting to win, either.
  7. Yeah, for stage 7 I actually created a 4x5 grid in Excel, where each cell represented a piece in the "pool" on the left, then figured out the position of the pieces on the bottom row before I placed a single piece. Agreed. I figure placing all four corners first is risky. What if one of those is wrong? For six out of seven stages, so far (I started stage 1 in the middle), I've started with the bottom right corner and built the bottom row, first. Once you've got that, you can build onto any of the pieces in that row, working upward. Five pieces to go; just waiting for the moves. But I'm sure I've got it right. <rant> One thing I'll say about this event, and I'm sure this won't be a popular opinion: yeah, it could be longer, or the cool-downs could be shorter, or any other way of making the event more winnable could be done. And I wouldn't mind. But here's the thing: As I read the comments in this thread, it seems to me that a lot of people are coming from the standpoint that the event should be winnable by everyone who plays it. It seems to me that this isn't how games work. If everyone wins, then the game is too easy. Me, I've calculated that I have one move worth of leeway before I have to start spending kobans, and then I will have 20 moves worth of kobans to see me through. If that doesn't cut it, I lose. Well, I could pay, but I'll own up to being a free2player. So, hey, I play plenty of games that I lose. As long as I know it's possible to win, I don't feel like I can blame the game. And this one is certainly possible to win, especially if you take into account the fact that there are 6000 kobans in rewards along the way. So yeah, I feel bad for the people who've lost moves to experimentation. And for those who've lost moves to bugs, that really sucks! The devs should refund those moves. In future events like this, I'd also like to see the move cap raised so that I can sleep in on a Saturday morning. But if I blow it, I blow it. And to put perhaps too fine a point on it, if it's possible to win without paying, then it isn't PTW. If it's easier to win by paying, then as a free2player, that's fine with me. Now, if it were impossible to win without paying, if the only way to get the reward were to pay, then basically you're buying the reward, not playing a game. That would be lame. But speaking as an artist, it bothers me that in a game that's being given away for free, in which it is possible to succeed without paying in a cent, the devs are being labeled as greedy. I see people all the time saying artwork should be given away for free, that I should do what I do purely for the love of it. Screw that. We should be thankful they let us play their game without paying for it, rather than complaining that they want us to pay for it. </rant>
  8. Ooh, I didn't see that post, as there was one that quoted me right under it, so I got a notification about that one. Sucks hard. That's got to be the worst aspect of the game: pieces snap into place even if they're in the wrong place. So you could build the whole puzzle, or nearly so, and still be wrong. I'm wondering if it wouldn't have been better for incorrectly placed pieces to just snap back over to the left where they came from. That would allow players to work at random, though. However, they'd still be subject to the cool-down timer. And if placing that one piece in the wrong place still cost a move, that would curtail random moves. But at least there wouldn't be any wasting of a dozen moves or more, assembling large portions of the puzzle wrong. It's just cruel that that's possible.
  9. Or at least one corner. I'm getting the lower right corner and building from there across the bottom, first, then up. About to finish stage 6 with no mistakes...yet! I haven't seen a puzzle with more than maybe one piece that is always empty, yet. But then, I'm only just finishing stage 6. Mostly, it's been waiting patiently to catch a glimpse of a bit of the image in a space that's otherwise empty. But if there are any puzzles with two or more empty spaces, that would suck. Stage 11? Just cut that out!! So wait, this puzzle is put together incorrectly, right? Because if that's the way its supposed to be done, I can't imagine how anyone would know the symbol is supposed to drift off the bottom and onto the top, or off one side and onto the other. On the other hand, if it's not correct, I'm not sure that's a bug, since the puzzle could be assembled differently. Or maybe I'm just being thick and not seeing the bug you mean. What really sucks is that even if it isn't a bug, it's going to cost a ton of moves to fix it! 😖 Dude, you shall apologize for that, over and over again, for days.
  10. The final stage is 30 pieces? I'm screwed. ETA: Never mind. Just saw that this pic was a bad joke.
  11. Kind of a mark of a bad game, if it doesn't give you the opportunity to figure out how to play it without that causing you to lose.
  12. So I was wondering about this. I haven't made any mistakes -- yet! -- so I don't know. But if you put a piece in the wrong place, it stays there, rather than springing back to where it was?
  13. And what's more, it seems to be a moot point. I don't know what went wrong in my calculations, but I just recalculated and found that I'll be 15 moves short. Oddly, I haven't made any mistakes and have collected all moves. The only thing I can chalk it up to is that damned OpenGL error, but if the awarding moves is on a clock, that shouldn't make any difference. I don't think I'll have enough kobans to buy 15 moves, even assuming there's no further error. Edit: found my error. I'm back to having one move to spare, if I collect all moves and don't make any mistakes.
  14. I calculated the same total moves (without additional purchases) as you, so an hour after your post, there's 130 left. At this point, I'm five moves into level 4. Based on there having been nine pieces in the first two puzzles and 12 in the next two, I'm guessing the total number of pieces for each level as 9, 9, 12, 12, 16, 16, 20, 20, 25, 25. That would mean I have 129 total puzzle pieces left to place. So if I'm right about the total number of pieces in the remaining puzzles, then I have an allowance of one mistake before I need to start spending kobans. 😅 But then, it's not so farfetched of a structure. I mean, hear me out, here: Apparently, it's possible -- though improbable -- to finish the thing without spending any kobans, as long as you don't make any mistakes, and you time everything out perfectly so that you don't lose any moves by hitting the 10 move cap. If you do make mistakes or lose moves, but have a stash of kobans, you can still win without spending any money. If you make mistakes, miss moves, and/or have no kobans to spend, you'd have to spend money to finish the event. And hey, while I'm no fan of PTW, the devs have to make money, somehow. And at least it seems possible to win without spending money.
  15. No, you're right, I haven't accounted for that bug. But then, I haven't encountered it, either. I'll have to go back and re-read the thread. Edited to add: I re-read the posts about the bug, and not having encountered it, I don't really get what's happening (hopefully it will stay that way for me!). Looks like people are finishing the puzzle but not getting the reward or advancing to the next puzzle? Yeah, I'd be pissed about that, and would contact the devs about a "refund" of the lost moves. I don't know how effective that would be, but.... BTW, my issue with the 10 move cap is that starting at stage 3, that's not enough moves to finish a puzzle, and that's no fun.
  16. Myself, I don't mind this event so far. Guesstimating the number of pieces per puzzle and calculating the number of minutes in the event /50 to come up with the possible number of moves, it seems to me that if you play a perfect game -- that is, if you collect all of the moves and do each puzzle in the minimum moves possible, you should be able to win without spending any kobans. Yeah, my calculations we based on some guess-work, like I said, but I came up with one move to spare, if I'm right about the numbers of pieces per puzzle. And so far, it's challenging without being overly difficult. I'm starting by looking to try to figure out which pieces are in a bottom corner, and then doing that hover-and-drop technique several others have suggested. The only things I'm not crazy about are the 10 move cap and the 50 minute cooldown. Don't know exactly how I would have done it differently, but that 10 move cap is going to make things tough for me at certain times. Oh yeah, and the images so far...a Rubic's Cube and a ymen symbol? I mean, the game is called Hentai Clicker, after all, so how about....
  17. Thanks for all of this! Here's a strange thing: I read French fairly well, and at least the first section of that page is word-for-word something I've read in English in the past couple of days. But I can't for the life of me figure out where I read it!
  18. See, even the stuff you said I don't really get: contributing kobans to stats? But yeah, I meant recruiting threads here on the forum. And I totally get the "anti-social" aspect. To me it's less about not wanting to chat and more about the fact that I prefer to game independently, rather than having to depend on other players or have them depend on me. I mean, I would certainly do my part in a club -- whatever that entails -- but it's not why I play. Actually, I'm not generally even drawn to games that have a PvP aspect to them. But in this game, even that's cool, since the losing player in any PvP situation doesn't really lose much, if anything at all. We compete for our place in the leagues, but that's about it. So I'm kinda bummed to find that I'm weakened by not engaging in the social aspect of the game.
  19. Thanks for that. Is there a tutorial, somewhere, or something of the like? I sent a request to a club marked "Restricted" that had one opening for a member, but haven't gotten a response. I'm hoping to gain some better understanding of how to find a club that's appropriate for me, and that I would be appropriate to. But all I've found is some very basic information on what clubs are, and a bunch of recruiting messages that I don't really understand.
  20. Very cool, thanks. Your explanation makes perfect sense. One clarification: are you saying this is a problem with WebGL, rather than specifically with HC? And thanks for the tip about Performance Monitor -- also very cool! Plenty of information to be had, there. BTW, it can be run directly from the Run window, much like msconfig can, by just typing perfmon. Or you can do the same thing right in the Win10 search field by typing either perfmon or Performance Monitor. That will also find Resource Monitor for you, as will typing perfmon.exe /res (yes, including that odd extra space!) into the run window. BTW, my default browser is Chrome (hence the mistake in my post, above), since it's the recommended browser for most of the systems at work. I pretty much only use Firefox, now, for HC, so that I can just leave it running most of the time and not have to worry about using that browser for anything else.
  21. Oops! My mistake! Meant to say I'm running the game in Firefox. And it's vanilla, too, no add-ons at all. For some reason there's six iterations of Firefox in the task manager, even though I currently have only three tabs open. Don't know what iteration is doing what, but I'm totaling about 1885GB for all of them.
  22. Interesting. But I'm running Chrome. And in fact, I'm running a fresh download of it on a brand new machine, so no add-ons, either. On my old machine, I regularly saw the game using as much as 4GB, or even more. And while I can see from your other posts in this thread, clearly you're more knowledgeable about this than I am. But I was just wondering: you're getting those memory figures from the Task Manager, right? So that's RAM, I assume. What's your take on this error coming up when you run out of graphics memory, rather than it being a matter of filling your RAM?
  23. That's one serious chunk of RAM, there! But I suspect -- though my suspicion may be completely unfounded -- that this is referring to graphics memory, not system RAM. Hard to believe and web-based game could actually fill my 16GB, much less your 64GB! But I've got 6GB on my graphics card, and that might be within the realm of possibility. In fact, it might be a combination of the two. I think my graphics card, beyond that 6GB, also shares RAM up to another 8GB if necessary. TBH, I haven't looked into this, so I'm not sure. But if this is the case, I feel really bad for anyone trying to run this game with Intel on-board graphics and nothing but shared graphics memory! Just out of morbid curiosity, how much graphics memory do you have, how much are you running the game, and how often are you getting the error? I've basically been running it all the time, and I get the error once or twice, daily.
  24. Thanks for all of the advice! I've never really looked into the idea of being in a club, as the idea of playing games socially has never really been my thing. Not that I'm opposed to it or anything, but rather that I just play game as a way of having private time to myself. Now, if being in a club will give me that kind of boost, I'll have to look into it. Unfortunately, that also means I don't really know where to start, or what to think about. Advice would be appreciated. The range idea that Chthugha mentioned was what I was really wondering about, as I used to have no problem besting opponents with egos 20k-25k above mine. And in fact, that's what I'd usually get, so I won pretty much all the time. Given the numbers you mentioned, I figure as I creep up in ego, I'll eventually "grow out of" this problem.
