Pick matching poses where possible as they matter more than the power does, then highest numbers where there's no patching pose (and obviously highest number among the matching poses). Facing the champions is about having the girls maxed up (level and affection, as possible) and rearranging them according to the poses the champion has in his rotation. The impression (power) on the champion will be doubled if the girl matches the position in the rotation. The champions are per class (except the last challenge), so you should be worried about having the respective class girls maxed out and then draft and rearrange them accordingly as best you can in order to match the rotation he requires.
