Is this the best affection upgrade order?

I've been looking at min-maxing my harem income stream. Looking at the income chart on the wiki, it looks like the most efficient way is to just level up the haremettes in terms of increasing affection cost. It might make sense to focus on those with long recharge times (and large per click incomes), but I check HH about every half- hour while at work to do PvP and collect money, so focusing on the average is better for me.

Taking that into account, upgrade costs appear to completely dominate the income stream, so I think it makes sense to upgrade everyone in tiers, and possibly focusing on higher income haremettes within the same tier. Does this sound right?

I would echo what @BananaJoy advises. The tiers you speak of would simply be the rarity of the girls. You could granulate the girls within each tier which I have done, but after starter and common are done, it is simply going from the second to the third star. The exceptions are Metal Noemy, Summer Geekette, and the 3 legendary event girls.

If you want to upgrade most effectively (and you're somebody who picks up the money frequently), the relevant value to compare is cost divided by added hourly income.

Leaving out the 4 World 1 girls and Princess Agate, who have very idiosyncratic income levels, the numbers for all girls are:

0 stars: 800/h
1 star: 900/h (+100)
2 stars: 1050/h (+150)
3 stars: 1270/h (+220)
4 stars: 1700/h (+430; 2000 / +730 for Legendaries)
5 stars: 3100/h (+1400; 3600 / +1600 for Legendaries)

Give or take a bit to account for the various differing pickup timers.

That gives the following theoretical ideal upgrade order (I'm listing only the cash costs - in thousands - as the affection costs are scaled exactly the same way):

Obviously that suffers from some logistical problems (5-star upgrades being more worthwhile than 3- and 4-star), and it also includes some fairly irrelevant steps (Metal Noemy is the only 5-star rare girl, Summer Geekette the only 5-star epic), so a cleaned up sensible order would look something like this, IMHO:

A big factor is how often you can login, as the incomes are all relative to you actually collecting on time.  0* is usually a very short frequency so if you have a tendency to sit online and collect them the second they end, they're actually quite profitable.  But if you go away for example for an hour or longer at a time, they are very bad.

That aside, just considering the payouts the income bump from 4* to 5* is usually bigger than any other bump, and usually coincides with cost as most 5* girls are low tier so far.  So I don't agree with evenly raising stars across the board.  My upgrade path is something like this:

Starters -> 1-3*

Common -> 1-2*

Starters -> 5* (or 3* if thats their limit)

Common -> 5* (or 3* if thats their limit)

Rare, Epic, raise evenly doing all Rare first before any Epic.

Legendary = only worth putting any money into for pvp, or if everything else is done

 

Only exceptions to this are 5* rares and epics

Edit: I see shal posted same time as me, pretty much agreeing with this but raising all starters first.  Sounds about right.

Personally, I tend to do what many have said, which is immediately up new girls to 2 stars. Have even managed this on the legendaries I have, but 1 was in my class, and the other I was saving affection items up to do that.

My personal tiebreak among girls of same commonality & current star level is how long it take to get the income. I know I'm going to miss collection times,  and sleep, of course, so I lean towards doing those with longer collection times.

Of course if I am using the girl in Arena, she will level on a faster schedule, but I will push those over with gifts if I have surplus funds to do it.
