  1. I assumed the number of L300s in S2 would have drastically reduced since I passed through, but what @jelom says makes sense, thanks for pointing that out. Now that I think about how I characterize a league I do it by ego, not level. The only time level comes into it is for fun when I see how close to the bottom/top I am or when the league is too big to finish in a week and I look at level to maximize xp.
  2. Holy smokes!! A bunch of level 300s in S2?? There must be a lot more people that ignore PvP than I thought.
  3. I really like the event thing-o in the lower right hand corner that tracks your progress in the current event. This was an excellent change by Kinkoid. You could replace the calendar with an enhanced event thing-o. Kinkoid would have to change it to: always be available in addition to showing the time left in the current event it could show time until the start of known up-coming events This would allow Kinkoid to calculate the time until the upcoming events taking into account the player's time zone and eliminate a major gotcha that bites most new players at least once.
  4. The girl drop probabilities are not affected by switching but the cash constants are. Everything else being equal every time you fight DL rather than Gruntt you leave 4000 on the table. For low level players that can be a lot. For high level players just avoiding the ignominy of a 3500 battle with DL is reason enough not to switch to him if you do not have to.
  5. You are correct. If league size is > 100 and you end up in a tight race for 1st/4th then you may end up having to spend a small extra number of kobans for an extra fraction of a single token. Otherwise you can just relax.
  6. Or choice 3: 2 weeks at S3 at rank 16-30th - 154 koban (nutaku) The problem with the D1 S3 yo-yo strategy is if someone cuts your string. All you need is on other high power player in S3 doing the same thing to muck up your S3 1st. But hey, as I have posted elsewhere, the more strategies people are using the more interesting the leagues are. So if you want to do it I say go for it. I suggest you also look at the XP gains/losses. A week of tanking enough to get demoted will probably cost you more than 1 level.
  7. I had the same problem. Mucking about with a wider window eventually made the button visible. Only a narrow width range worked. Too narrow or too wide and the button was unreachable and enter/esc did not seem to work.
  8. You guys probably all know this already but as @Moe Overload pointed out to me there is no reason to hammer the server in the 1st few minutes after league reset to get a battle in so the timer can start re-filling. Since a week is evenly divisible into exactly 288 35 min parts: 1st battle at 1 sec after reset: you accumulate at most 287 tokens with 34 min and 59 secs wasted 1st battle at 30 min after reset: you accumulate at most 287 tokens with 5 min wasted I call the 1st 35 min after league reset the MoeZone. Get 1 in the MoeZone and chill.
  9. I just picked up a purple mono upgrade (+130) from the market and gained a level so I am now in the 180 band. So, does that make me part of task 2? Off-topic: It would be really nice if there was an ego column in the leagues.
  10. My 1st crack at S3 went a lot better than I expected. I finished 36th out of 107. I would have been happy with anything over 50th. The current S3 (includes @DHarry I think so he can call out my white lies) looks much easier. The egos break down: 200K+ 1 190K+ 8 180K+ 24 170K+ 34 includes me: 179K, L270 4th lowest, 100 in bracket 160K+ 21 150K+ 12 Last week the most common band was 180K+ and the whole shebang looks like it is shifted 8K? lower this time. This weeks goal > 30th.
  11. snowman22's adventures in S3. snowman22 was doing a lot better in S3 than he had expected. It was day 5 and he had only a few losses. Of course all the 190K+ ego (and many high 180K) players remained but 50th place looked doable and he was starting to dream of 45th or better. If only the old dude judge would show up.
  12. I like that the game encourages/allows tanking in the leagues. Unpopular opinion? Change my mind. IMHO with the current system any player 2-10 th (by strength) should be playing a "aim for a top 4 finish" strategy until sometime around 600 pts. Then comes a decision. Tank 16 or go for 1st. Where are the other top players? Have they missed any wins? Have they missed any tokens? How big is the bracket? How late can I leave my decision? (You do not want to try to tank, throw away a bunch of xp, and still get stuck in 15th!) Can I survive one league up? Usually only about 8 people are real competitors for 1st - 4th place and 1 or 2 of those do not bother. Often 1st place goes to the koban spender. The strategy is simple: "just win baby" with a touch of "time to do some refills". 16th - 19thplace? A whole other story. 20 or 30 competitors. You get people working up AND people working down. You got death (15th place) right next to your goal. Kobans are not an issue. I would not dream of asking purists to abandon their "high as possible" strategy. Different strokes. I just think the game is more complex and interesting if you have people pursuing conflicting goals.
  13. I think people have pretty well answered this. 4 x Chlorella or maybe Cordyceps for HC. My comment is that boosters are really lame. I use the free ones I pick up in the arena but it would be a warm day on the glacier before I bought one. Boosters are the only item that does not get better with level. They are quite useful at low levels but pretty lame even at my level of 270. My current attack is usually about 27,000 net after defense, my ego is 178,000. 4 gold cordyceps is +800 or +2.96% to my net attack. Over a 6 round battle that is 4,800 for the whole fight. It shortens the fight by a little more than 1/6th of a round. Same for Chlorella. 4 epic chlorella is +4,800 ego or +2.7%, or a little more than 1/6th of a round of extra life. I use em but I do not worry too much about them.
  14. snowman22's adventures in S3. (L268, E178) snowman22 moved warily into S3. He kept both eyes peeled in case a group of players tried to approach him with a large silver platter. snowman22 suspected he had been traumatized by his first visit to S2. Perhaps some therapy was in order. The talking cure? No, too "New York". Primal scream therapy? No, he did that already every morning at 6. (snowman22's neighbors hated him.) Sensory deprivation in a flotation tank? What kind of sick puppy puts a snowman in a tank of warm, salty water?! Perhaps the best thing was just to exercise caution and see how S3 shakes out. Snowman22 looked around. He was 3rd lowest by level. Not good. The few 13xK and 14x ego opponents from S2 were absent. Also not good. 2 players had 15x. There were 88 players in the 16x-18x range. Not bad. 14 players had 19x. 3 had > 200. Irrelevant. I can work with this thought snowman22. This weeks target: 50th.
  15. ++ on Gork. I sorta wish she was competitive as a battle team member just so I could put her on my team and make all the haters watch her whenever they fought my team. I had her as Omega till she maxed. I like em all.
  16. Snowman22's adventures in S2 draw to a close. In the end the 200K+ ego player never budged and it was not one of the 180K+ players that edged snowman22 for top spot. Another high 170K player used the same strategy as snowman22. Boost, fight the 4 180K+ players, and then decide. Snowman22 won 11 of 12, the other player went clean, and both lost 3 to the 200K+ player. End result: snowman22 was 2nd by 2 points. GG. On to S3.
  17. I think you are all missing the really important question. Just how many hands/feet does that friggin' monkey have???
  18. Agreed. Then the final reward can have a higher chance of being something nice/useful too as it is harder to get consistently. Hey, I like this idea. They could start everybody with a clean arena slate every day and give progressively better prizes at 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 wins. (?? 4=cash, book, item, gift, 64=fists ??)
  19. I am pessimistic about the Karole drops gifts issue. From the calculations I have seen others do it looks like a large net drop in resources. On the other hand there have been changes in the past that looked bad and caused a lot of furor but turned out OK or meh. I will wait and see. I am cautiously optimistic about the girl drop progress indicator / foreplay idea from the year end notes. I hope they do it for event girls AND common boss girls. I have not dropped a common boss girl in more than 3 months. (2 left on Silvanus, all 3 left on Roko). At this point it would be really nice to know I was 4/5 or 2/5 the way to a girl, man, even knowing I was 1/5 the way there would be better than the current 0/5 situation. It would be nice if after doing 20 battles you could say "welp, no girl, but I did go from 1/5 to 2/5". Also, say a event is ending and I am sitting at 4/5. I would be much happier doing refills than in the current situation.
  20. S2 L 265 E 179K snowman22 surveyed the competition struggling up the pass into S3. He had lost 8 combat tokens to a nap in a exceedingly comfy snowdrift so there were more players ahead of him than he liked. Fortunately none of them were a threat, nothing but koban rockets and teams that would fade later in the week . One player had burned more than 4 refills. It would avail him naught. He would finish 10-20th. Several other players had burned at least 2 refills and would end up outside the top ten. snowman22 peered down slope looking for the real competition. There were 5 players stronger than snowman22. 4 were in the 181K-184K range and he had fought them all and suffered only a single loss. Snowmann22 finally made them out. For some reason they were all about 2 refills behind him. The real mystery was a frozen figure still standing at the starting line. The strongest player in the bracket with over 200K ego had not moved a single step. Snowman22 had not yet fought him. He considered going back down and poking the figure with a stick. Snowman22 considered stopping for an espresso. Poke high ego player or espresso? Snowman22 enjoyed the feeling of the espresso as it melted a path through his core. Better to let sleeping high ego players lie. There was still room to maneuver. If 4 of the 5 decided to make a move snowman22 could take his foot off the gas and shoot for 16th, if not S3 beckoned.
  21. snowman22 L 263 ego 176K I finished 16th in S2 with 764 points. I had to waste a fair number of challenges to stay under 15th. I am pretty sure the people in 10-15 did not want to be there. I think they only gained about 8 points in the last 8 hours. Even taking losses you should gain 14 or so points. So either these where koban rockets who had blown kobans to lead the table on Sunday, used up all their opponents, and so had nobody left to fight, or they where hoping someone would pass them and push them out of promotion contention. My other observation is that this is the first time koban rockets had not been plentiful and obvious. In every previous league there has been 3-5 people who burn more than 1 refill of kobans early in the contest. This time I think 1 or 2 people did 1 refill early.
  22. I found the process of shopping for a club to be much more difficult than it needs to be. I suggest that each club have some meta-data about the club that is visible before you join or even apply. The obvious ones I can think of are: Language(s) the club operates in Min level restrictions (or max if somebody wants to start a school club.) Manifesto, text that sets out goals for the club Misc, text that holds any other info the club leader wants. I.e. Charm only, >100 girls, Gork in harem , ... I suggest the first 2 be added as columns in the clubs list and any others be added to the top/bottom of the screen that lists the club members. The club leader would be responsible for creating and maintaining the meta-data. This would help both the player looking for a club because the players could avoid applying to clubs that would just reject them and the club leaders would not have to look at so many candidates they were going to reject anyway.
  23. Snowman22 surveyed the players struggling up the flanks of the S2 mountain. @brassygirl was a spark of energy not far ahead. So far he had matched pace with the leaders but there was a pack of ego 180+ players in the lead group and he was the lowest level player in the top third. Calculations flickered through the super-cooled neurons of Snowman's brain. All the marginal contests had been completed. Only certain wins and a handful of probable losses remained. Possible probables and improbable possibilities twisted and flowed. Patience thought snowman22. Be one with the glacier. A glacier grinds slowly but it grinds exceedingly fine. S3 was not going anywhere. And this time there had been no silver platter.
  24. Kinkoid knows full well the classes are unbalanced. When I started Knowhow was king, now Hardcore is king. I expect them to buff Charm at some point. If the game spends too long in one state it gets stale especially for long term players. So every once in a while Kinkoid stirs the class balance pot. Players come off auto-pilot, engagement goes up, interest goes up. It is much more interesting to hunt for a 5th purple (in a new class) than to hunt for an upgrade to 1 of your 6 existing purples (if you stay in the old class). I think @BananaJoy has sussed it. Keep all mono stat purples for all classes. Do not ignore legendary girls that are not your class. Keep your options open. Charm players, keep your chins up, your time will come. (Just my opinion).
  25. A broken soup spoon? Humans are weird.
