There's no skill involved in this event, nor is there in any other. But now instead of fighting against the odds, you're fighting against other players and the odds. It sure makes some players feel like they're putting in effort, while the most they're doing is spending a good amount of resources. Same as with PoA, with the difference that there you have the illusion that you're getting your 7200 kobans' worth while in reality you're getting things you'd never spend kobans on. And while all other events require a similar amount of 'effort', at least they don't waste additional time or resources doing so. An actual skill-based event could be done by using mechanics similar to champions, but scaled to the player's current level instead. Ask yourself why aren't we getting something like that, but we get these consistent resource sinks ? No I wake up early by creating an alarm and making sure I snipe at the very very last second. I'm trying to device a way to calculate latency and lag based on arena timings (you sometimes notice the timer goes to 0 but it jumps back up to 1-2 seconds). I most certainly see this as a skill, being able to consistently do well and plan correctly - without failure. Skill isn't always in league of legends like fast reaction that those asians will always win over europeans because their physical supresse there. It's also in thinking and planning, games like tribal wars were quite skillfull back in the day. Edited June 27, 2020 by pulli23
Oda
Mine is a mixed bag at the moment (25th is 137 at the moment) luckily I have 75 shards so I hope it will be alright (there are 10 french players and 2 US ones with 0 points at the moment but I hope they aren't too crazy)
MisterCat
While I'm glad the above posters are having fun, I can't say I'm having much success or really enjoying the event. I refuse to get up at 3am to try and play at reset. For me it's been significant resources expended and finishing in the top half only once. That means actually getting the girl is highly unlikely, and colors my opinion strongly against this event. Yesterday's contest was particularly unfun as I dropped from 18th to 26th over night. I prefer the other type of contest where you were meeting goals rather than competing against other players. From a game theory point of view having real time scores posted and having a known end time gives significant advantage to the players active at the end. Another game I played dealt with contest like this by 1) leader boards were only updated every 2 hours. 2) For a given contest, your personal timer started by a button push, lasted 4-8 hours during which time you could do things that affected your score 3) published the results the next day.
Dr. Lust
The ONLY thing I can think of that may level out the playing field and prevent that last second sniping by players would be to end the contest at a randomly chosen time before the 24 hours are up. For example ending it anywhere from 30 minutes to 6 hours before the designated finish time. This would cause players to do what I did in the first stage of the event, to play right from the start and not wait until the last second. I played from the start, knowing that I would not be able to snipe at 3am, and ran my points up to 72,000+ in my bracket. I went to bed in first place and, to my surprise, ended in first acquiring the girl. So now, I'm just cruising for the next 4 days. Can't think of another way to level out the field so that F2P and sharks and whales have the same chance. As this contest is now it is heavily tilted in the favor of sharks and whales. The players like me, who are here just to relax and have fun have little to no chance. If I understand correctly the last stage of the event ended sooner then expected. Which would explain how I ended in first in my bracket. Normally, there is NO WAY I would have ended in first with my relaxed style of playing. I just remember waking up, seeing myself in 1st on the Legendary, and then immediately claiming the prize. I did not start running the Pachinko stage until after I claimed the prize. So, thank God the players in my bracket must have forgotten about that 30 minute reset time where the contest ends early. Otherwise there is no way I would have acquired the girl. I just hope we get back to the "normal" PoA events where we can plan ahead to get the girls as opposed to this fighting against each other crap. Urist
I've learned something about the contest registration. One of my alt accounts is not enrolled in the 3rd legendary contest, probably because I haven't logged into the account since Tuesday, more than 72 hours prior to this morning's reset. I did have the 26th+ prize to claim from the first and second contest though. So that 72 hour mark is counted for each individual contest. Probably not relevant to forum users, but
ali-n
Haven't had time to scan all the comments to see if already mentioned, but the other contest today is a bit "off" If I play Great one at a time for 10 games I would have 1,000 points after 10 plays (100x10), so the 1,200 for a 10X is good (an extra 200)... but if I do Epic one at a time, after 10 plays I would have 3,000 points (300x10)... so why would any sane person play 10X for only 1,800 (1.200 less) points?

Oh wait. ^^ Also, there's this new thing called O-R-B-S. If someone appears to have "played EPx1" 10 times, they've likely used 10 orbs, not spent 5,400 kobans (and no, you can't combine them). 3

As Slynia said, the x10 Epic Pachinko guarantees you a girl, so that's an extra you get for playing that. The single game, on the other hand, doesn't mean you'll get a girl even after 10, 15 or even 20 games, so it has an extra incentive in that contest. The Great Pachinko doesn't adjust their scores because the extra prixe you can get is a legendary item, but you're already paying more for a x10 spin than playing a single one 10 times, so one thing for the other.

Dr. Lust
So, Guys, would this be a correct assumption for a F2P gamer. During the month save anything and everything until the last event, be it a PoA or Legendary event? Save, cash, kobans, orbs, champion tickets, books, gifts, boosts, etc. Squirrel everything away so that you have a surplus of anything needed during PoA or Legendary? And to get this thread back on track.............Filya is HOT. Edited June 27, 2020 by Dr. Lust
JAVhero
imo it's not random that there's a "special offer" available at the very same time, you need that energy and combativity for the legendary contest 💰 Edited June 27, 2020 by JAVhero

Lemus
Objectively speaking, to get the girl I spent half the resources than in the same legendary days. Sounds like a good thing. But subjectively, all I can say is that the new event pisses me off. Once again, the rage of my ancestors awakens in me. I want to take an axe and crush the heads of my enemies. "The ashes of Klaas are knocking at my heart." And all that stuff. And that's a bad sign. It's a very, very bad sign. There was a case that after a similar incident, we spent six months trampling the enemy guild into the mud seizing their cities and castles until they left the server shouting "Leave us alone crazy bastards." https://coub.com/view/2fyr1c And in another world and universe, red alliance starships appeared from the depths of space with a single order, "Just burn them all." https://coub.com/view/a8ius It's a good thing I can't do this here, but I'm still nervous because every time I kind of don't want anything bad, but for some reason this stuff happens over and over again. And I get advice from doctors on strictly positive emotions and no virtual killing, even if it's with good intentions. Dear developers, if you make an event, make it good and positive. As your own hero says: MOD EDIT: IMAGE REDACTED DUE TO STORY SCENE (it's all a bit of a joke, of course, but, as they say, "every joke has a part not only of a joke"). Thank you. I love everybody. I had a sedative, so I'm fine now.

snowman22
L413 North American player. Hate the event. LC Day 1: Woke up 3 hours before normal (T-60 min) to see whats what. 1 1/2 refills for 25 shards, 3 refills for 50 shards, 15ish refills for 4th. I was already hating being up so early and I did not want to have to do this 4 times so I decided to go for 50. By the time I finished 3 refills I needed another. 4 refills took me to 7th, less than 1 refill above 11th. T-5 min and I was seeing motion in the 11-14 spots so I made another insurance refill. Turns out I would not have needed the last refill. Result: 930 kobans for 50 shards, big sleep deficit. LC Day 2: I have lots of cash. Contemplated dumping 100M and waking up at T-30 min to do any topping off. Decided against doing the 100M because it would not save much time. Just as easy to do it at T-10 min. Slept through the reset. I would have lost the 100M. The 25 shard bracket started at 135M. Result: 0 spent for 0 shards, legendary item sold for 8.5M. LC Day 3: I am going to try and wake up 3 1/2 hours early (T-90 min) and if 50 shards can be had for less than 10 refills I will do it. I just want this to be over. There are parts of the game that are tedious but this contest is actively making my days unpleasant due to lack of sleep. I will try to get the girl on this one but this is the last time I participate in a LC unless they do something about the end time. And just so this is not a total whine-fest I love the change KK made to remove the flying cash animation. Total thumbs up there KK!! Edit: LC Day 3: Event done. Thank RNG. I had to dump 8 refills to get 7th and my last 50 shards. I probably overpaid by 1 but there where 3 of us sniping 10th. Half of the last refill did not register in time. All the others had french flags but in these days of VPNs you never know. KK got about 3K kobans from me this event but I am never doing another contest/event with this reset time-zone crap. To non-NA players: Have fun, I do not hold it against you. And since I am up I will wait 30 min and then snipe in the casino contest. Eman
Looks like my group for this contest is either made of reasonable players or they're all waiting until the last hours to start the fight: there are only two players with more than 2.000 points and none of the others have reached the 1.000. Heck, I'm 14th doing nothing different than usual and less than 100 points away from the 10th place 😲. If tomorrow morning things are mostly the same, I'll be seriously tempted to join the fun and spend a few kobans on refills to try to finish in the top 10 for the 50 shards. But that will depend on what happens while sleeping. We'll see, but now the bed is calling me 😂. 1
