Will only cost more than you get for rewards to face all the opponents for anything below rank 4. Even rank 2-4 only make a profit if spending is done quite late in the league. Looking like a koban spending fest for those going for the ranks. Well at least if you are lucky enough to double up on xp contests you will have no shortage of available xp to potentially win some of the kobans used back. My current S3 looks like this: 20x: 1 19x: 6 18x: 20 17x: 24 16x: 27 15x: 17 14x: 8 My last one was a bit tougher. (3 20x) You would do fine in this S3 with 175 K ego. You would not want to be in the top 15 and promote to D1 anyway so you really only compete with the bottom half of 18x and below. A 165 with some fancy footwork (boosters and judges) should get you to 50th. Anything below that and I would nope outta promotion. As an aside I sorta wish I could see leagues other than mine. The last full accounting was attempted for Season 18 between the 17th and 24th of January: On 1/23/2019 at 8:10 PM, _shal_ said: zed that I neglected to summarize the numbers for the current week. We had been expecting this: Demotions obviously worked again, but the re-addition of the suspended players apparently placed them straight back in their original league tiers, so no actual punishment there at all beyond the one-week ban... Anyway, that meant slightly more players at all levels, with full reporting for D1 (thanks, everyone!) putting it at 549 players. The numbers are all out of whack now, in any case, so no more assuming that any level has a multiple of 15 players. With the S3 reports being for brackets of either 100 or 101 players, there are presumably just over 1600 in there now...no way to confirm the exact total anymore, but 16 brackets should hopefully be correct. All mentioned S2's had 102 participants, and I'm not sure now if my extrapolated guess of 4020 was too high and we're only at something like 3980, or if there were so many suspended returning players that it's even around 4080. It may be time to abandon trying to track S2 to this level of detail now. Hopefully next season's numbers will help clarify if there were 39 or 40 brackets. With data that has become available since then, these can now be quasi-confirmed as: S2: approx. 3980, i.e. not 40 groups after all S3: >1600 and apparently <1605 (the reason for this will be apparent in a moment) D1: 549 confirmed ------------------------- Projected for Season 19 between the 24th and 31st of January were: Quote S2: approx. 4400 (very unreliable estimate) S3: ~1800 (based on promotions from 40 S2 brackets...we'll surely find out if it's just over or just under 1800, based on the bracket sizes) D1: 714 D1 was confirmed by full accounting: On 1/25/2019 at 8:10 PM, _shal_ said: To summarize the posted D1's (snip) ... That left 717 minus 2x105 players in D1, plus 17x15 = 255 promotions from S3, for a presumed new total of 762. This matches up with the reported bracket sizes of 108 and 109 there. S3 had brackets of 100 and 101 players, which indicates that it reached just over 2000 in total. With the guess of 42 S2's for the previous week, this would be 2007 here now. S2 ought to have had 44 groups here, based on what follows next. --------------------------- So, now this week's Season 21: As already noted, since D1 failed to fill 8 brackets the week before, we ended up with a monster D2 of 195 players. D1 itself should be at 867 now (2x7x15 out, 20x15 in from S3 and 1x15 in from D2, net gain 105), which again led to groups of 108/109 players. The reports for S3 have so far come in at multiple 104's and one 103 (snowman22's, which I'm also in), which indicates 2172 players (2x20x15 out, 44x15 and 7x15 in, net gain 165)...more or fewer players than 44x15 coming up from S2 should have led to different bracket sizes, either 102/3 (at 2157) or 104/5 (at 2187).
