[ 01-Aug-20 ] Kinkversary IV (2020) - Discussion

I won't go into an in-depth analysis, and I won't vote in the poll for now. I don't have time and I'd rather reserve my judgment for after seeing more of the new girls. However, I'd like to give a summary of my findings on the event's structure, and my opinion on that, as well as a very quick first impression on the 8 new girls.

1/ This Event = Classic Event (but 25% shorter) + Bonus Epic Days (but twice longer and with a much better drop range than actual ED).

We have the mission girl and the three other new girls available on villains at the usual 2-8 drop range. As a bonus, we get a discount ED (for those who still have loads of kobans to spend after the event marathon we just went through and before the mega-OD, likely LD and LC to follow this month).

On top of that, next to the other 4 new event girls that are pachinko exclusives, we get 4 past event girls brought back in pachinko only as well.

I don't dislike it, but if I had known in advance that this was coming, I would have completely skipped ForePlay 2 (initially disguised as the Anniversary event) instead of getting 1.25 girls for 3k kobans as I did. Now, I won't be able to afford any extra girls, so this will essentially be a slightly more expensive and shorter standard new event for me (unless I get a super good run and/or great luck with orbs maybe).

2/ The new (variants of) girls (FIRST IMPRESSIONS, BASED ON INITIAL POSES ONLY!):

Anniv Noemy: looks very good, and actually even much better than the original, which is one of the clearest examples of bad Year One art.

Anniv Fairy, Abraël, Lenaëlle and Jenni(e): they look pretty good. Fresh takes on iconic characters with a different (but compelling) art style. I'm interested.

Anniv Derri & Selena: they look pretty bad. Botched takes on iconic characters with a different (but weak and poorly executed) art style. I'm not optimistic.

Anniv "Shina": WHAT THE HELL is that thing?! She looks as out of place in this game as a GI Joe figurine in a Barbie collection. The style doesn't fit at all. This reminds me of 1930s cartoons or whatever else has super-deformed proportions; I'm even surprised she has 5 fingers instead of 4 with super large white gloves... It also doesn't look like Shina at all, and just the scale of the picture is like zoomed in twice compared to most other girls... This looks like one of the biggest dumpster fires we've had, right up there with Holiday, Selene or Natasha.

Noemi is perfect and it's almost guaranteed that it's from the original artist and Selena is at the same level, but I don't think Fairy, Jenni or Lenaêlle look bad or are badly drawn, it's just that they don't look like the previous versions of them. Then there's Abraêl, that doesn't look like her at all but it's not too bad, and finally we have Derri that looks bad and Shina that... no, just no.

That's why I agree with FinderKeeper, events and the reception of the girls would improve a lot if they were able to draw new girls.

Drawing the girls differently than their original/previous versions and drawing scary deformed cartoonish abominations is not the same.

Many of the girls are from animu/mango/games and previous artists had no problem drawing them to be cute/sexy/attractive even though they looked different compared to source material.

So it's not the problem about players not liking the girls just because they don't look exactly the same as they did before. It's because they are ugly AF and these new amateur artists can't do any better, be it old or new girls.

This kind of shit is simply unacceptable.

Thanks to Heatwave event I had 115 combativity.

I don't usually do re-fills this early but I wanted to give a better picture of what you can expect from this event.
The sample size is too small, but hopefully players who also had terrible starts can use my experience to help them decide what they will do.

The game developers should try doing this at the start of every event (with a much larger sample size) - it might inform new players who don't yet know the huge difference between, say, Orgy and Legendary events.

i really need this (becouse i don't wanna see it): Can someone that saw her tell me : "don't worry man, is only the first pose of Shina, after she looks way better and is good as her previous versions" i really need to hear that . Also i noticed the event is 9 days only, i don't see any calendar of august in the forum, someone knows and can tell me what is gonna happen this moth ? I need to properly plan my expenses thanks in advance.

I edited my post to better reflect my thoughts on Lenaëlle, I do like her poses EXCEPT for the 3-star pose. Here is a picture that shows you what I don't like, and an edited version by me to show what I think looks better. Obviously I'm not aa painter so I can't make this look good but you get my point. The lines don't by any means in my mind make her look athletic, only skinny. Btw @GeorgeMTO or Darsca (I will save one of you from being tagged to avoid a double job request ), as I don't know if this counts as a spoiler or not by showing this much of a pose, feel free to remove this post if it does. Apologies in advance.

So you want someone to lie to you? Sorry, man. I've checked her other poses, and no it doesn't get any better. This is basically a Mickey Mouse porn parody, but with somewhat human faces. It's not even that bad in and of itself, it's just... completely out of place in this game.

Well, to each their own. I also had a look at her poses (expectantly, unlike Shina's) but I was rather disappointed. I don't mind the line art on her stomach at all. However, no freaking nails on her toes throughout all of her poses is blasphemy to me.

If all we're gonna do is nitpick then I don't think there is even a handful of girls in all of HH that can't be improved upon  
Obviously, this Lenaëlle has problems, but all her poses save the last one gets a passing grade for me at least, and I just happen to think that if I give it a pass, I like it.

And I agree, different styles and bad drawings are different things, and in this event we have both cases. That's why I'm not going to defend Shina or Derri, but the other girls are well drawn and no one would complain about them if they were not based on known girls.

We can criticize that the girls don't look the same, and righfully so, but not their objective quality.

That said, now I'm actually morbidly curious of how Gork or Sara Jay would look like with this new art style. After all, this style have add lots of misses, but some of the girls actually look better with this new style. 

So, I now do wonder how that would work with two girls I mentioned.

The battle mechanics for this game amount to a spreadsheet with a little RNG thrown in.  Playing this game for "mechanics" is like watching a porn video for "plot".

These eyes man, look at these eyes. The pencil strokes and the finishing touch are all over the place.

Everything about that picture is wrong.

Even some of the oldest pictures look tremendously better. Look at this one from the revival of august 2017:

@linkdreamexactly that! I have a fair amount of girls I dislike (taste wise), like Kalissa and Gork lets say for an example, but the original drawings aren't bad in any way, the art is on point. Looking at this group picture for this event all I see is "Holy shit no girl looks like herself" and "Holy shit, some girls look like anatomical freaks!". It's sad and honestly, new girls are worthless to me.

Why do pachinko when the best one is from doing daily missions as well also i do not even know why they bother making pachinko girls legendary when none of of them are past 3 stars as well.

I wonder if this recent drop performance about the art is a needed cut of the expences: I mean someone that is playing hh clicker maybe can answer me (i had to stop playing almost at the beginning for time problems) is the art in there is dropping too ? Are they putting too much effort in hh clicker and we are forgetting about our poor hero ? Are they using a lot of resurces to produce the new game that has to come ? I'm worried mates, becouse hell i like the game and yes i was captured by the parody art of it. And yes i think i agree with the people that suggested to leave alone our old baeuties and let the artists be themself creating somenthing new, but beautiful, than take somenthing old already perfect and destroy it (my poor shina, yes i won't never forget this  ). Also 9 days is a problem too, as i said i don't dislike the girls that much, but usually i get the 3 in 12 days (when i'm lucky otherwise i have to use all the days); i guess fairy will be the last among the 3, probably i'll stop at 2.

I think it's the opposite. We have increased budget.😅

But the budget is spent on re-making the CG in the main adventure storyline.. So the HH artist is busy redrawing these and have less time to draw delicious girls for us.
So a 2nd artist has been hired to draw a bigger quantity of girls.

Ohhh interesting you are probably right, thinking about it, in fact Neono is gonna be fantastic probably. It makes a lot of sense, is a bit of a shame tho, don't get me wrong the story redraw is great but, uhm how can i say it, it remains the same  with new girls we have more, and personally i need more and more  (yes i will never have enough)
